Our Background

How to Contact Us

We strengthen, equip and enable families to fulfill their God-given purpose by providing information and tools for training children and maturing young adults.

We want what is best and right for your family, as well as for ours.

We are Bill and Derri Smith and family. We are servants of the Lord Jesus Christ (that's not the name of a Church group—that is just who we are).

We live in Joelton, TN, just outside of Nashville. Before that, we lived six years in Nottingham, England and Vienna, Austria. From there, we ministered to refugees and aided persecuted Christians in Eastern Europe.

Our articles on communication and child training appear in various print and online publications.

Derri was a public school teacher before making homeschooling two daughters her primary 20-year pursuit.  She maintains BookAngles, a free service offering book reviews with a traditional family-values angle.

She supplied quality used books through Derri's Discoveries before ending that venture to devote more time to Sweet Home Press and BookAngles. She enjoys writing articles for various publications "to help other moms learn from her mistakes."

Bill has written for newspapers, software companies and non-profit organizations. His articles appear in Grants & Foundations Review, Homeschool Enrichment Magazine and online and in other publications. Bill and Derri also co-author articles from time to time. Bill was certified a Senior Professional in Human Resources, currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Grant Professionals and has been a full time writer since 1998. He recently helped develop the first credentialing process and examination for grant professionals.

Daughters, Bethany (20) and Amy (16) published a newsletter to friends and family for five years, called Home Sweet Home - A Journal for Girls. The girls won top awards in their age categories for writing and photography.

In fact, the whole Smith family loves to write, and they frequently peck away, side by side, on their respective computers. Mealtimes often find them discussing the latest plot developments in a story, ideas for a magazine article or a new way to serve families through BookAngles and Sweet Home Press.
